Course Projects
Cyse 615: Mobile and Wireless Security:
An overview of wireless and mobile security providing students with practical and theoretical experiences. Topics include smartphone security, mobile Internet security, mobile location privacy, and wireless ad hoc, mesh, and sensor network security.
The course will provide fundamental knowledge of the following
-
computer networks and security methods for communication systems that provide services for mobile users by wired and wireless access networks.
-
security mechanisms and protocols in wireless communication systems, such as the topical technologies of WLAN IEEE 802.11, WAN 802.16, GSM/UMTS/LTE, Ad-hoc and sensor networks.
-
models, design principles, mechanisms and solutions used in wireless network security to obtain authentication and key transport protocols.
WIRESHARK ASSIGNMENT
Wireshark is a free and open source packet analyzer. It is used for network troubleshooting, analysis, software and communications protocol development, and education. Throughout the semester for my Mobile & Wireless security course students were asked to use Wireshark in several labs to accomplish various task. In this particular lab we were asked to capture packets of information sent across a network and analyze its content. Things discovered after analyzing the data were IP address, protocols used, times messages were sent and more! To learn more about this lab continue to read below.
